As of now, the Indian market is reopening itself to cross-hatches, many companies like Maruti Suzuki with its upgraded CelerioX, Ford with its Freestyle, joined by even Hyundai’s i20 Activ, Tata Motors has finally launched a hatch-back of their own. Images along with specifications of their new launch have been leaked online, painting an almost accurate picture of what to expect. The company is to launch an upgraded version of Tata Tiago and comparable to Tata Tigor, called Tata Tiago NRG Edition.
The Tiago NRG is supposed to have a cross-over look, aiming for a trendy aesthetic. Meant to be a standard hatchback it also has a rugged body kit with dark elements to add contrast.
Boasting alloy wheels of 14-inches, it is the first hatch-back launched by Tata. It has an abundance of body cladding on the bumpers, front, and rear. Among the other black components, the roof and spoiler are also blacked out.
Just like the tatatigor, Tiago NRG has a smoked projector headlamp.Achieving its tough looks from the wheel arches, the front allows for contrast because of its dark strip around the grille, while elements like the door handles along with the shells of the rear-view mirrors and the B-pillar are also dark.A noticeable change is a clearance which has seen an increase of 10mm, totaling it to 180 mm. The car is larger in all three dimensions when compared to the older Tiago.
The inside takes after the theme of the outside, with black placed to create contrast near the AC vents and comes with a 5-inch touchscreen for information and entertainment which will also be a rear parking camera. It also has an 8-speaker Harman audio system which allows control by the steering wheel. The wheel has power steering identical to the tatatigor, and telephone control.
The driver’s seat is adjustable in 6 ways, has height adjustment as well as a cooled glovebox. The layout, although similar to regular Tiago, has styling elements like orange and silver inserts along with bezels for the air conditioner, console and gearbox lever.
Unlike the many adjustments and changes made to the aesthetics of the car, the Tiago NRG is identical to Tiago and tata tigor.5-speed manual gears are responsible for the transmission. The engine that works on petrol comes with 84 bhp and 114 Nm of torque, while the engine that works on diesel goes up to 69 bhp and 140 Nm. The engines have the same capacity as before at 1.2 liters and 1.05 liters respectively.
If you’re a fan of the new hatch-back trend taking over the market, you’ll be enthralled by the introduction of Tiago NRG. It’s expected to launch in the first half of September, most likely the 12th of September, so you won’t have to wait long. Sleek and powerful, its main competitors are the Celerio X by Maruti Suzuki and Ford’s Freestyle.
